After innumerable submissions, my first digital illustration portfolio was published in Digital FX magazine in 2001. Back when hardcopy still had an impact and ‘clouds’ were still, eh, clouds — fluffy white things which would occasionally turn dark grey, begin to leak and affect (for better or worse) someone’s day.
On the 4th of April, The One Point proudly announced http://www.theonepoint.co.uk/top-sponsor-one-hull-of-a-boat154 that we were to join the list of Humber and East Yorkshire-based companies queuing up to support the One Hull of a Boat project. An unique opportunity for the region to participate in the 2013 P1 Powerboat Championships.
An integral part of Hull FC’s ’10K Challenge’ 2013 season pass holders marketing campaign, The One Point have produced an all-action viral featuring Hull FC’s mascot, Airlie Bird, playing the role of a sunglasses-clad James Bond collecting a mysterious ‘package’
We recently had the pleasure of producing a short intro film for ‘An Afternoon with Geoffrey Boycott OBE’ at the Mercure Ramada Jarvis Hotel, Willerby. A sold out event, MC’d by BBC Look North’s Blair Jacobs, and whose auction raised quite a few quid for charity.
In March 2008 The One Point jumped onboard the ‘Hulldon’ train and went to visit the IP&TV World Forum at Olympia. Two expansive floors of flickering set-top boxes and smart tellys a’pushin’ an’ a’pullin’ multimedia back and forth the Internet.
I met up with Peter Gentle with his arrival to Hull FC after his Q&A’s from fans and a press conference for local media that I streamed Live to HULLFC.com
Am currently ensconced in The One Point’s edit suite watching Pendulum’s ‘Watercolour’ music promo (2010). It’s a glorious piece of work, festooned in amorphous imagery, blue-tinged, anamorphic lens motif, CG’d astral metaphors, expensive-looking slo-mo performance — plus, of course, a brilliant song. Business-wise, everything a music promo should be: exciting, engaging, memorable, innovative and, moreover, marketable. I’ve no idea who’s produced it, but they’ve done the Australian-British electrorock outfit proud. It looks like it cost a fortune.
Nietzsche’s brilliantly simple Principle of Eternal Recurrence is the basic premise proceeding from the assumption that the probability of a world coming into existence exactly like our own is finite. If either time or space are infinite then mathematics tells us that our existence will recur an infinite number of times.
‘Football. It’s a funny old game,’ as Jimmy Greaves, with a jovial wink to camera, used to sign-off his and Saint’s erstwhile Saturday morning ITV show with back in the 1980s. Except, in 2011, football’s not very funny anymore, is it? It’s a deadly serious game of £250,000 per week wage packets [Wayne Rooney], diamond-driven WAGS, parachute payments, angrily-penned post-game Twitter outbursts, ruthless agents and trans-global, multi-platform corporate sponsorship agreements.
Hello. This is Darren Edwards, The One Point’s Head of Television, and this is where I’ll be posting my blog entries about The One Point (TOP)’s TV and film output. Me? I relocated to Hull from Lincoln in 2003 to study a Media Technology BSc (Hons) degree at Lincoln Uni’s Hull Campus on George St. City centre, right in the thick of things.
